Where to Stay in Bangkok? Immediately Add the St. Regis to Your List!

Wondering where to stay in Bangkok? I stayed at the St. Regis hotel in Bangkok and cannot stop gushing about it. Here’s what I loved about it (and what I think you’ll love too):

The Room

Two words: luxurious and spacious! Of course, it IS the St. Regis, so the presumption is that the room will be luxurious. Even with that, the attention to detail with the furnishing choices (I’m OBSESSED with the coffee table – so pretty!) and the incredibly thoughtful set up of the room itself makes staying at the St. Regis feel extra posh.

When you first walk in there’s a hallway. On one side you’ll find not one, but two very roomy closets – which are perfect for couples enjoying a romantic getaway. On the right there’s one of two entrances to the bathroom; both entrances have sliding pocket doors. The bathroom itself is lovely –  a beautiful vanity with 2 sinks, separate shower, standalone tub, and a water closet. The room I stayed in had the comfiest king bed, a sitting area with the previously mentioned stunning coffee table, and an office area with a perfectly placed desk (in the unfortunate event you are in Bangkok for work and not play – or at least not all play). Oh – and a killer view of the pool with the city sprawling beyond. Seriously, if you’re able to upgrade to get a pool view, do it – you won’t be sorry.

The Service

From the moment you step out of your cab or tuk tuk, the St. Regis staff will greet you with impeccable service. Your luggage will be whisked away from you by the bellman and you’ll be guided to the elevators to take you to guest registration on the 12th floor. The registration process is smooth sailing and once you’re checked in you’ll be shown to your room. My luggage actually got to my room before I did!

As with all St. Regis properties, you will have your own Butler (yes, I said “BUTLER”), who is there to see to your every need.  Would you like French pressed coffee in the morning? Done.  Do you need anything pressed or laundered? Just say the word.  A taxi? A dinner reservation at a Michelin star restaurant? A spa appointment? Done, done, and done! Truly, when you’re deciding where to stay in Bangkok, if service matters to you then the St. Regis needs to be at the top of your list.

The Pool

When deciding where to stay in Bangkok, is a beautiful rooftop pool on your list? Well the St. Regis has you covered. The pool is on the 15th floor – in one direction overlooking the city and in the other a golf course. In addition to the pool, there’s a hot tub, and (of course) a pool bar. Did I sip bubbly while lounging and reading poolside? You bet I did!  Strongly recommend you do as well! I won’t belabor this point with words – better to let the photos speak for themselves.

The Location

Bangkok is an ENORMOUS city. HUGE! As such, location definitely matters when you’re deciding where to Stay in Bangkok. When I travel to a city, I tend to want to see as much as possible. So choosing a centrally located hotel can be ideal. The St. Regis is located in the Siam Area of Bangkok – which is very centrally located. Yes, Siam is the heart of Bangkok’s business district. However, you’ll also be surrounded by superb restaurants, amazing shopping, and attractions like Lumphini Park, Erawan Shrine, Central World, and Siam Paragon. And from the hotel it’s easy to get a taxi or tuk tuk to take you anywhere else you want to go, or hop on the BTS Skytrain and mingle with the people as you explore the city.

The Perks if You Have Marriott Bonvoy Status

If you have Marriott Bonvoy status, you’re in for a treat if you choose the St. Regis.  Unlike many other St. Regis properties, the redemption rate – if you want to use points to book – is quite low. Only 35,000 a night when I went.

At check in you can choose from an award of points or free daily breakfast; choose the breakfast! Every morning the St. Regis offers up an incredible spread with anything you could ever want for breakfast. Breakfast is served until 11 am – very handy when you’re out late enjoying the Bangkok nightlife (see my Bangkok Nightlife Tips post for more on that!). Additional perks include room upgrades (maybe you don’t need to pay for that stellar pool view), a free cocktail nightly at the hotel bar, and free pressing of two garments daily per person.

Beautiful Desert Rose at the St. Regis
