Hot Take: Why Daxxify is Better than Botox AND Dysport

Look, I would love nothing more than to be able to tell you that I look like this at 43 solely because of yoga, healthy diet, and sunscreen … but that would be a big ol’ lie! And I’m not here to lie to you. I’m here to keep it REAL and spill the tea when it comes to how to outrun father time and explain why Daxxify is better than Botox and Dysport. Read on if you want your forehead to look less like a Shar Pei’s!

Wait. Why Would I Inject a NEUROTOXIN into My Face?

I know, I know. Injecting a neurotoxin into your face sounds bananas. I mean neurotoxins and botulism are BAD, right?  Well … not so fast with the snap judgements! Turns out there are some really positive uses for these things; amazing cosmetic uses that have fountain of youth like effects. And don’t worry, they are FDA approved.

If you’ve been hunting for a way to reduce fine lines and wrinkles on that beautiful face of yours, you’ve probably come across injectables as a possible (temporary) solution. Unless you’ve been living under a rock, you’ve heard of Botox. Botox was the first of the injectable neurotoxins to go mainstream. Heck – I started getting Botox back when I was just a baby faced 28 year old living in LA. My dermatologist said starting early would be somewhat preventative (and he was right).

But how do these injectables like Botox work? In a nutshell: the toxin reduces the muscle movement that causes wrinkles (and that’s why too much can make you look a little “frozen”). The injectable effectively relaxes the facial muscles, resulting in smoother and younger looking skin. Yay!

Okay. So Tell Me About Botox and Dysport

Botox and Dysport are both made from botulinum toxin, and they both use a larger animal based protein.  Results from both Botox and Dysport typically last between 3 to 4 months (results vary because we vary – everyone’s body and metabolism process these a little bit differently).  Botox usually takes about a week to kick-in whereas you’ll usually see results from Dysport within 2 to 3 days. Botox and Dysport can be used interchangeably to treat forehead wrinkles, crows feet, and the dreaded “11” (aka those up and down wrinkles right in between your eyebrows).

Why Daxxify is Better than Botox and Dysport

As I already mentioned, I started off with Botox. About 10 years ago, I switched to Dysport. For me, my body metabolized the Dysport a bit slower, meaning it lasted a little longer for me than Botox. And I was pretty happy with Dysport all things considered. But then Daxxify came on the market. After chatting with my skin guru about Daxxify,  I recently made the switch and I will NEVER go back!

Daxxify uses a small peptide (and not the larger animal-based protein that Botox and Dysport use), which allows Daxxify to bind the nerves and relax the muscles more effectively. This means that your Daxxify results can last UP TO SIX MONTHS. You heard me – up to SIX MONTHS of a forehead sans wrinkles! You’ll also see your results sooner – they usually kick in within a day or 2.  Personally, I see results within a day and for me they last about 5 months.  And, while Daxxify costs a little more than Botox and Dysport, because it lasts longer, I actually end up saving money. Talk about a win, win. For me that clearly makes Daxxify better than Botox and Dysport. Less wrinkly, for longer, and it  ultimately costs less? It’s a no brainer!
